First day on my juicing journey

Here I am!!  My first blog post ever! Woo hoo! Go me! LOL  I just wanted to journal my experience through my juicing journey. I am planning on this being a short journey but you never know.  I would love to hear everyone’s comments, tips and questions.

A little bit about me and my health. I am almost 32 years old, 5′ 3″ and 148 lbs. YIKES!! Did I just say my weight?!?!  This is the heaviest I have ever been except for when I was pregnant with my children. Some people say…you are tiny….but I beg to differ. I would love to be at a healthy weight for my height and just be healthy all together.

I have watched all the documentaries about our food in this day and age and have slowly been making the changes to mine and my families diet. After watching Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead, I decided that I wanted to try juicing. Not long term but for a short time, to reboot my body. If you have not seen this movie, you must watch it. You can watch it for free on HULU.  This is the website for the show.

Fast forward to a year or 2 to the present….I am now no longer either pregnant or nursing. I am ready to do this journey! Now or never! I am actually very excited yet scared about the whole thing, hence, this blog.  I found the website This is done by Joe…the person in the film I previously mentioned. He has juicing recipes, plans, and everything you can think of regarding juicing safely. He even recommends juicers and how to go about choosing one for your needs. I didn’t want to spend an arm and leg for a juicer, who knows if I will even like juicing…right? So I decided I wanted to get the Breville Juice Fountain Compact Electric Juicer. I ended up buying it at Best Buy because I was able to use points from my American Express card to purchase it…which means….no money outta my pocket! Yay! What a deal. If I didn’t have my points built up, I would have bought it from one of my favorite places….AMAZON. Here is the link to the one I bought.

I purchased my juicer night before last and sent my husband to the grocery store for ingredients last night. Here we are Thursday June 6th, 2013 and this is my first day on my juicing journey. My husband and I decided that I would ease myself into juicing. My goal right now is to start with a juice a day for about 2 or 3 days. I will then remove another “food” meal with a juice, until I am 100% on juice. Once that happens, I will go for 5 days of full juicing. That is the plan right now!

Today I had my first drink. I am actually still drinking it as I type. I made myself the Sunrise juice recipe from Joe’s website. It contains 4 carrots, 2 oranges and 1 beet. I have never eaten or bought a fresh beet in my life. I have only tasted canned beets, YUCK! Can you say DIRT! lol I had to look online to see how to prepare the beet. Thank GOD Joe’s website guided me through that. It was very easy. He says if you peel the beet then it won’t taste so much like dirt. lol The drink looks really good. Similar to cool-aid. I took my first drink and found that it didn’t taste as good as it looked but it didn’t taste as bad as it sounded. ha ha. I added ice to it and it now tastes much better. Joe says each juice recipe creates 12 ounces of juice or more. It is a lot of juice! I have already been to the restroom a few times since I have started drinking it. (Just in case you wanted to know! lol)

So far I am feeling good! Wish me luck!!

LOVE it! I wanna hear your updates every day! I absolutely LOVED that movie and was so inspired by Joe, not just for weight loss, but for health. He just looked SO healthy, young, and it seemed he felt so much better! I went out and bought a Breville juicer, but sad to say it has only been used a few times. 😦 I want to start juicing all day, but its hard cause I work and I know he juiced on the road and I heard its not as beneficial if the juice isn’t fresh…. so I don’t know that I could do an all day thing????

Thank you for your support! Make sure you click on follow so you can get all my new posts. On his website he says you can have the juice in your fridge for 24-48 hours. You could also just do one or two juices a day mixed with food….maybe that would work for you? Start slow…like me! We can do this together!!
